Pole Dance Tips

Whats in your pole bag?

If you have been taking pole dancing classes for awhile then you already know not having  a needed item  in your pole bag can wreck havoc on your class experience.  If you are new here’s a list of what to keep in your pole bag to save you the trouble!

  • Shorts!  Pole shorts.  You can never have enough cute little pole dance shorts in your closet but try to at least have 1 extra pair in your pole bag!  You never know when you may need them!  We suggest keeping an extra pair of black bottoms for emergencies.
  • Grip aid!  Forgetting your grip aid can be detrimental if you have sweaty hands.  We recommend writing your name on the bottle just in case you leave it at the studio! You can also keep one in your pole bag and one at the studio if you like!
  • Shoes! Heels! Stilettos! It’s unfortunate, but shoes break.  If you have more than one pair, make sure you stuff  an extra in your pole bag!  Or, at least, throw in a garter and some super glue to temporarily fix any minor breaks.
  • Socks!  Especially if you are a bare foot poler.  Socks provide a quick alternative to heels when your instructor has planned to do any sliding movement that class!
  • Knee Pads!  Save your knees!  We know you are tough but repeatedly being on your knees can cause unnecessary pain. Wear your knee pads during classes that require a lot of floor work! You don’t have to wear them when you perform, of course.  Don’t have knee pads?  Leggings or over the knee socks provide a decent alternative!
  • Products!  Deodorant, band-aids, hair ties, feminine products ect.  We try to keep most of these things on hand at the studio for you but you should always try to keep a spare of your own just in case!
  • POLE JOURNAL!  While most of our students don’t, we highly recommend keeping a pole journal to document your moves, combos, and progress!  This way it is easy to look back and see how far you have come, quickly look up how to do a trick you have forgotten, or remember choreography!
  • ** Extras**  Yoga Matt, Stretch Bands, Yoga Blocks ect. to aid in your warm up and conditioning.  These are especially useful if you like to show up early to class to warm up/stretch!

So now that you have a check list for you pole bag, make sure you pack it up and keep it in your car so it’s always with you!

If you have something to add please let us know!  What’s a must have item in your pole bag?
